Artist Bio

Chasidy Kidd is an emerging, self-taught contemporary artist living in the Rochester, New York area. Having grown up in southeastern Kentucky, she began drawing as a child to combat boredom on rainy days when playing outside by the creeks and in the woods wasn't an option. Beginning with copying newspaper comics and drawing her favorite Saturday cartoons, she kept momentum by exploring a multitude of subjects and media. Graphite and colored pencil were her go-to media for much of her childhood and adolescence, but she dabbled in clay sculpture and painting as well.

As adulthood crept in, she began to explore other hobbies and while making art was always a passion, it often took a backseat to other activities and responsibilities. Now, after many years, the drought has subsided and the proverbial floodgates have reopened. Until very recently, much of her art had been given away, lost or abandoned. However, a desire to make and share her art as far as it will go has been stirred.

Inspiration found in a myriad of places, often including pop culture, period motifs, queer culture and the nostalgic notions of the elder millennial, make their way into Chasidy's acrylic pieces. She prefers to draw from these inspirations and translate them into visually appealing works which encourage dopamine flow through the use of pattern and color. She spires to settle into the Rochester arts community and beyond in order to share what satisfies her brain with anyone who will look.
